Gord Downie, The Sadies, and The Conquering Sun

I was recently asked by Arts & Crafts Records to create album artwork for the upcoming collaborative album by Gord Downie and The Sadies.

The artwork was also used in the video shoot for the first single, “Crater”, directed by Norman Wong.

Here is some sample footage that will be in the video, which was actually used as the opening song to Hockey Night in Canada last week:

The album will be released April 15th, but is available for pre-order through the band’s website.

Hope you enjoyed the incredible amount of hometown Canadian content in this post!
Thanks, as always, to Arts & Crafts, and ADs Jonathan Shedletzky and Jenn Kitagawa :)

Synbiota: The Changing Face of Research

The good people at Synbiota approached me about creating a short animation to accompany their appearance at SXSW this year.
They presented their research, as well as their new platform, and were awarded the top prize in the Innovative World Technologies category.
I couldn’t be more pleased for them, as well as with how the animation turned out.

Below are a few renditions of concepts that were used in the presentation as well :)

365 Days of Type

My friend Sabrina Smelko created the 365 Days of Type project last year, singlehandedly tackling each daily creation.
For 2014, Sabrina and her partner in crime Shawn Lovering, are showcasing contributions from other designers and illustrators.

Only 39 days in, there is some really great stuff in their gallery. Check out the website here –

Here’s my contribution, #39 :)

Samsung – Bring It Home

An animation commissioned by Samsung for their #BringItHome campaign, which connects Canadian athletes with supporters at home.
Samsung is partnered with five Canadian Olympic athletes who will represent Canada in the coming up 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

More info is available here :)

A big thank you to Sam Hall and Yotam Dor at Notch Video, as always <3

Rogers – Generation D

An animation that I was commissioned to create for Rogers is live. They released their annual tech trends report and wanted an accompanying animation that focused on where every day technology could be headed.

A big thank you, as always, to Yotam Dor and Sam Hall at Notch Video. It’s always a pleasure working with such a great team :)

Interview with Frank151

I was recently interviewed by Marisa Aveling from Frank151 about my current show in Los Angeles, at the Scion AV Installation space.
I’ll be posting an update this week that is dedicated to the work that was created for (and with) the Scion team.
In the meantime, you can read my interview with Frank151 here :)
